BMC Commissioner Prajakta Verma Lavangare Inspects Mumbai Rain Affected Areas

On Monday, July 6, 2026, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Additional Municipal Commissioner (City) Prajakta Verma Lavangare conducted an extensive inspection of several rain-affected and flood-prone areas across Mumbai and its suburbs. The inspection was carried out as heavy rainfall continued to lash parts of the city and suburban areas.

During the visit, Lavangare reviewed the city's monsoon preparedness and evaluated the overall situation. The assessment focused on the functionality of the drainage systems and the readiness of emergency response teams to handle potential waterlogging and flooding.

Taking note of the ongoing weather conditions across Mumbai, the Additional Municipal Commissioner directed all BMC officials to remain on high alert. The order is aimed at ensuring that the civic body is fully prepared to tackle any emergencies that may arise due to the continuous heavy downpour.

In addition to placing the officials on high alert, Lavangare issued specific instructions to swiftly resolve all rain-related complaints received from citizens. Civic personnel were also directed to closely monitor the drainage networks across the city to facilitate the smooth flow of rainwater and prevent water accumulation in low-lying areas.

The inspection and subsequent directives come as the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation seeks to manage the impact of the heavy rains and maintain civic services across the city's affected zones.

The civic body's efforts are currently focused on mitigating the impact of the heavy rainfall on residents. By putting officials on high alert, the administration aims to ensure a rapid response to any localized flooding.

Lavangare's inspection covered multiple areas that are traditionally prone to flooding during the monsoon season. During these site visits, she assessed the measures put in place by the civic administration to manage excess rainwater. The directive to swiftly resolve complaints is intended to address public grievances regarding waterlogging or other monsoon-related issues without delay.
