BMC Covers Dangerous Open Drain Near Sion Railway Station

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) covered a hazardous open drain near Sion railway station on Friday morning, bringing relief to daily commuters and local residents.

Civic personnel arrived at the spot early in the morning, installed a new lid over the exposed drain, and cleaned the surrounding area before 11 am. Shopkeepers operating nearby confirmed the swift civic action.

The open drain had turned into a major safety hazard for commuters navigating the busy station area. The issue gained urgency after pedestrian Jayraj Bhosale fell into the uncovered drain.

While the prompt installation of the cover resolved the immediate risk, commuters welcomed the action but questioned why authorities acted only after the issue was publicly highlighted.
