BMC Demolishes Unauthorised Dargah in Aarey Colony of Goregaon

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and local police personnel conducted an anti-encroachment drive in the Aarey Colony area of Goregaon, Mumbai, on Tuesday. The civic action was directed against an unauthorised dargah that had been built on government land.
According to officials, the joint enforcement exercise was initiated after prior notices served to the administrators of the shrine were ignored. Additionally, no valid documents or ownership papers were presented before the municipal authorities to justify the existence of the religious structure.
Following the failure of the concerned parties to respond to the official warnings or provide legal paperwork, the BMC and police moved forward with the demolition. Heavy machinery, including multiple bulldozers, was brought to the site in Goregaon to dismantle the unauthorised infrastructure.
To prevent any potential law and order issues, the entire operation was conducted under tight security. A large contingent of police officers was deployed to secure the perimeter while the municipal team carried out the demolition.
Visuals of the drive, which were recorded and shared by news agency ANI, showed the bulldozers actively tearing down the illegal structures. The security forces remained on high alert throughout the process to ensure that the civic drive was completed without any hindrance.
The demolition of the unauthorised dargah in Aarey Colony marks a direct action by the local administration to reclaim government land from illegal encroachments. The joint operation highlights the coordination between the municipal corporation and the police department in addressing civic violations.
The site was cleared by the end of the day on Tuesday, with authorities ensuring the successful removal of the unauthorised structures. No further incidents or disruptions were reported during the course of the anti-encroachment drive in Goregaon.
