On Monday, July 6, 2026, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Commissioner Ashwini Bhide commended the efforts of civic officials and field staff who have been deployed round-the-clock to manage Mumbai's monsoon response.
The continuous deployment of these teams was aimed at ensuring that essential municipal services remained uninterrupted despite five consecutive days of heavy rainfall across the city. The initiative focused on minimizing disruptions to normal life as the relentless monsoon showers continued.
Commissioner Bhide met with Maharashtra Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha on Monday to brief him on the BMC's ongoing monsoon response and rain-related preparedness. The briefing highlighted the active measures taken by the civic body to manage the situation on the ground.
The civic chief expressed appreciation for the employees and officers from various municipal departments who have remained stationed on the ground during the severe weather. These teams are working continuously to address issues arising from the heavy downpours.
With the city facing five days of continuous heavy rain, the presence of these field teams has been critical in managing the impact of the weather. The BMC has emphasized its commitment to keeping municipal services functional and reducing the inconvenience faced by residents during this period of intense rainfall.
