BMC Engineers Directed to Inspect Mumbai Ganeshotsav Routes on Foot

With less than a month remaining for Ganeshotsav, engineers from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) roads department have been instructed to walk along and assess procession routes across their respective wards in Mumbai, including transit points near Parel.

The civic inspection drive focuses on identifying potholes, uneven road surfaces, and speed breakers that could catch vehicles transporting large idols off guard during transit.

The action follows a directive issued on Monday by Maharashtra Cultural Affairs Minister and Guardian Minister of Mumbai Suburbs Ashish Shelar, who instructed the civic body to inspect all idol procession routes within 24 hours.

A senior civic official associated with the management of the festival confirmed that the orders were communicated to the roads department as part of key preparations for the 10-day festival. Ward-level road officials are assessing all paths designated for both 'aagman' (arrival) and 'visarjan' (immersion) processions on foot to ensure smooth road conditions.
