BMC Forecasts Light Rain in Mumbai and Issues Tide Timetable for August 22

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has forecast partly cloudy skies with occasional spells of light rain across Mumbai and its suburbs for Saturday, August 22.

The civic administration issued the weather update as part of its routine monsoon advisories, calling on residents across the city to track local weather developments and tide conditions.

According to the tide schedule released by the BMC, a low tide of 2.61 metres was recorded at 2:55 pm on Saturday. This is scheduled to be followed by a high tide reaching a height of 2.71 metres at 7:03 pm.

The subsequent low tide is scheduled for 1:49 am on Sunday, August 23, with the water level expected to drop to 1.67 metres.

Tide schedules remain critical during Mumbai's monsoon season, as the combination of high tides and heavy rainfall can slow stormwater drainage systems and elevate the risk of waterlogging, particularly in low-lying sections of the city.

The BMC released the tide timetable in both Marathi and English through its official social media channels. The civic body also reminded citizens of its emergency helpline number, 1916, which is available for those seeking civic assistance.

With intermittent rain projected throughout the day, the civic body has urged citizens to stay alert to evolving weather patterns and follow local advisories, especially while travelling across the city during spells of rain.
