BMC Opens 10-Bed Dialysis Centre at Agarwal Hospital in Mulund

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation inaugurated a new 10-bed dialysis centre at the Shrimati Mansadevi Tulsiram Agarwal General Hospital in Mulund on Sunday, expanding access to treatment for kidney patients in the eastern suburbs of Mumbai.
The facility was inaugurated by Maharashtra Minister and Mumbai Suburban Guardian Minister Ashish Shelar. Set up under a public-private partnership model in collaboration with Mukta Kidney and Dialysis Centre, the unit can handle up to 50 patients daily through multiple sessions and is projected to benefit hundreds of patients annually.
Located on the third floor of the hospital, the centre operates with healthcare personnel provided by the private partner. Treatment will be offered at subsidised rates, while patients enrolled under the Ayushman Bharat and Mahatma Jyotirao Phule Jan Arogya Yojana schemes can receive care within the annual coverage limit of Rs 5 lakh.
Speaking at the opening, Shelar stated that patients requiring dialysis need straightforward access to affordable, quality care, adding that the partnership framework offers a way to serve individuals who depend on regular procedures. MLA Mihir Kotecha described the new facility as a Diwali gift for the people of Mulund.
The hospital's new building was inaugurated virtually by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on December 14, 2025. The facility currently operates with 110 beds, offering medical services in general medicine, surgery, orthopaedics, ENT, ophthalmology, paediatrics, dermatology, dentistry, hypertension, and diabetes management, alongside diagnostic laboratory facilities.
The civic body is also preparing to introduce Diplomate of National Board courses at the hospital and is appointing specialist medical staff for the initiative. Furthermore, advanced diagnostic infrastructure, including CT scan and MRI services, is scheduled to become operational at the hospital within the next six months.
The event was attended by MLA Mihir Kotecha, corporators Prakash Gangadhare and Neil Somaiya, former corporator Samidha Kamble, Deputy Municipal Commissioner Sharad Ughade, Chief Medical Superintendent Dr Chandrakant Pawar, and Medical Superintendent Dr Rajusingh Rathod.
