BMC Plans Action Against Hill Road Hawkers and Encroachments Within 15 Days

Bandra’s Hill Road could see action against hawkers and footpath encroachments within 15 days after the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s H West ward identified specific violations along the corridor.
The civic initiative follows an inspection conducted on Wednesday by H West ward Assistant Commissioner Dinesh Pallewad. The site review was carried out a day after ALM 74 chairman Rohinton Polishwala submitted a formal complaint to the municipal commissioner, requesting intervention against alleged illegal hawking and pedestrian obstructions in the area.
During the assessment of the Hill Road stretch, civic officials identified illegal footpath encroachments as well as premises and societies that are allegedly permitting hawkers to operate from within their boundaries.
Following the identification of these spots and premises, the civic administration indicated that enforcement measures would be executed over the next two weeks to clear the stretch.
