BMC Plans Rs 702-Crore Underground Subway Linking Worli Metro to Coastal Road

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has proposed a Rs 702.44-crore underground pedestrian subway connecting the Science Centre Metro Station in Worli with the proposed Central Park at Mahalaxmi Racecourse and the Coastal Road promenade.

The proposed underground route will run via the Mahalaxmi Racecourse, establishing a direct connection between the Aqua Line's Science Centre Metro Station and the promenade along the Coastal Road.

Under the arrangement, the Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation Limited (MMRCL) will execute and implement the construction of the subway project, while the BMC plans to provide the entire funding.

The civic administration has finalized the financial estimate and the proposal will be officially tabled before the Standing Committee on Wednesday for consideration.
