BMC Removes 15 Illegal Shops and 15 Hawkers in Dadar and Santacruz Drive

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation carried out an eviction drive on Thursday against illegal encroachments obstructing footpaths in Dadar and Santacruz as part of its 'Pedestrian First' campaign.

During the action, civic personnel removed 15 unauthorised shops and 15 hawkers from the footpaths. The operation was conducted by officials from the BMC's F-South ward and H-East ward.

The civic action targeted temporary sheds and various illegal encroachments along the walkways. In total, around 500 metres of footpath space was cleared and freed for pedestrian movement.

Following the operation, the BMC stated that it is implementing various measures to ensure accessible footpaths for pedestrians across the city.

The civic body also issued an appeal to citizens, requesting that they refrain from carrying out unauthorised construction or placing materials on footpaths in any manner that obstructs public movement.
