The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) carried out a major anti-encroachment drive in Mulund on Tuesday, removing illegal structures and various obstructions from footpaths as part of its 'Pedestrian First' campaign.

The joint civic operation resulted in the removal of 40 monsoon sheds, eight illegal shops, and 30 hawkers occupying pedestrian pathways across the neighbourhood.

The drive was executed as a joint operation involving teams from the civic body's T, S, and N wards. Officials stated that the action was taken with the specific aim of making footpaths safer and easier for pedestrians to use.

Following the operation, the civic administration reaffirmed its commitment to providing clear and accessible footpaths for pedestrians across Mumbai.
