BMC Sets Deadlines for Vidyavihar and Mankhurd-Maharashtra Nagar Flyovers

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has officially established completion deadlines for two major flyover projects in Vidyavihar and Mankhurd-Maharashtra Nagar. The civic body aims to expedite construction to provide traffic relief to Mumbai commuters who face daily delays.

Additional Municipal Commissioner (Projects) Abhijit Bangar announced the targets following site visits conducted on Saturday. The BMC has set a deadline of August 31, 2026, for the completion of the Vidyavihar flyover. Meanwhile, the target for completing both arms of the Mankhurd-Maharashtra Nagar flyover project has been set for May 31, 2027.

During his site reviews, Bangar assessed the ongoing progress of both infrastructure projects. He held discussions with project officials and contractors, directing them to accelerate the pace of execution. To achieve this, the Additional Municipal Commissioner ordered the deployment of additional manpower and machinery at both construction sites.

Bangar emphasized that while the work must be expedited to meet the stipulated timelines, safety must not be compromised. He instructed all project authorities and contractors to strictly adhere to safety norms at the construction sites during the execution of the work.

The two flyover projects are critical components of the city's traffic management plans. Once completed, they are expected to significantly ease congestion for commuters in the Vidyavihar and Mankhurd-Maharashtra Nagar areas. The BMC's decision to fix strict deadlines and increase resources on-site is intended to ensure the projects are completed without further delay.

By setting these concrete targets, the civic administration is pushing for a timely resolution to local traffic issues. The directives given to officials and contractors during the weekend site visits highlight the BMC's focus on accelerating the construction process through increased resources, while ensuring that all safety regulations are strictly followed on-site.
