BMC to Resume Bandra Talao Rejuvenation Work on October 1

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) will resume the first phase of rejuvenation work at the 200-year-old Bandra Talao in Bandra West on October 1, after operations were paused for the monsoon season.

The rejuvenation project was initiated after local residents flagged the crumbling infrastructure surrounding the artificial water body, specifically highlighting broken pavements and damaged fencing.

Work on the first phase originally began nine months ago. In May, residents noted the first major milestone of the project when the civic body dewatered the talao to remove accumulated sludge and sediment from its bed.

Following the dewatering and desilting operations, the lake has since been replenished with rainwater during the monsoon, giving the water body a pristine appearance.

When work resumes in October, civic officials plan to install a treatment plant at the site designed to purify and aerate the water as part of the project's initial phase.
