BMC to Train Public Ganesh Mandal Volunteers in Safety Ahead of Ganeshotsav

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) announced on Wednesday that it will conduct one-day first responder and emergency management training for volunteers from sarvajanik Ganesh mandals across Mumbai ahead of Ganeshotsav 2026.

Under the civic plan, at least 8 to 10 volunteers from every public Ganesh mandal in the city will receive specialized training. The initiative aims to equip local mandal teams to respond directly to emergencies and help maintain safety during the annual festival.

The training will cover key safety areas, including fire safety, first aid, and crowd management techniques. By training mandal members as initial responders, the municipal corporation intends to establish basic emergency response capabilities at festival venues across the city.

Mumbai's Ganeshotsav attracts millions of devotees and visitors every year, resulting in major public gatherings at public mandals across various parts of the city. With significant footfalls expected throughout the festival, the civic administration noted that trained volunteers will assist in managing crowds and handling potential emergencies on the ground.

The BMC stated that having trained personnel present at each sarvajanik mandal will help ensure overall safety and emergency preparedness across Mumbai during the celebrations.
