BNCMC to Fine Bhiwandi Residents Dumping Garbage on Roads
The Bhiwandi-Nizampur City Municipal Corporation (BNCMC) has decided to initiate punitive action and impose fines on residents found dumping garbage on roads and at public junctions across Bhiwandi on August 11, 2026. BNCMC Commissioner Anmol Sagar directed the sanitation department to adopt a stricter approach to curb waste accumulation and address sanitation and public health concerns caused by foul odours and littered public spaces.
Under the new directives, Commissioner Sagar instructed the Chief Sanitation Officer and sanitation inspectors to conduct field inspections in their respective areas at least three times a day. Officials have been ordered to take immediate action against offenders and monitor locations where garbage is repeatedly discarded to identify recurring violations. According to the sanitation department, this enforcement drive will continue until roadside dumping is brought under control.
While local residents have supported the civic administration's decision to penalise deliberate roadside dumping, those living in Narpoli raised concerns regarding irregular garbage collection in their area. Residents in Narpoli stated that garbage-collection vehicles frequently fail to reach their residential buildings and housing societies on multiple occasions.
The lack of regular collection makes it difficult for residents to store accumulated household waste for long periods, leaving them with limited options for waste disposal. Narpoli residents urged the civic body to ensure a reliable door-to-door garbage collection system before intensifying punitive measures. They emphasized that combining regular waste collection with strict enforcement against littering would prove far more effective in keeping residential neighbourhoods clean.
The BNCMC civic administration indicated that sanitation officials will proceed with increased field inspections to enforce waste-disposal norms. The initiative aims to improve cleanliness across residential areas while encouraging residents to utilize designated garbage-collection systems rather than discarding waste on roads and in public spaces.
