Bodies of two boys swept away in Kamwari River recovered in Palghar

The bodies of two boys who were swept away by the swollen Kamwari River in Bhiwandi, located in Maharashtra's Thane district, have been recovered in the neighboring Palghar district, police officials confirmed on Saturday, July 11, 2026.

The recovery comes after a multi-day search operation initiated after the boys went missing last week. According to officials, the victims were among three boys who were swept away by the strong currents of the Kamwari River on July 5 and July 6, 2026.

The incident occurred following a period of heavy rainfall in the region. The heavy downpours caused the Kamwari River in Bhiwandi to swell significantly, creating dangerous conditions. The rising water levels and powerful currents proved overwhelming, leading to the three boys being carried away by the water.

Following their disappearance on July 5 and July 6, search and rescue operations were launched by local authorities. On Saturday, July 11, 2026, police reported that the bodies of two of the boys had been located and recovered in the neighboring Palghar district, downstream from where they initially went missing.

Despite the recovery of the two bodies, the search operation is far from over. Officials confirmed that the search for the third missing boy is still actively ongoing. Local police and rescue teams continue to scour the area in hopes of finding the remaining child.

The authorities have not yet released the names or exact ages of the three boys involved in the tragic incident. The police department and local officials continue to monitor the situation as the search for the third boy persists in the region.
