Body of Yogesh Verma recovered from Malad East drain after multi-agency search

The body of 38-year-old Yogesh Verma was recovered on the morning of Wednesday, July 8, 2026, after he fell into a rain-swollen drain in Tanaji Nagar, Malad East, and was swept away.

Verma had fallen into the stormwater drain on the night of July 5, 2026. The incident prompted an extensive search and recovery operation by local emergency services to locate him.

The search operation was conducted by the Kurar police and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF). On Wednesday morning, the joint teams resumed their search efforts at approximately 6:00 a.m., starting from the exact spot in Tanaji Nagar where Verma had fallen.

During the operation, the Kurar police and NDRF teams traced the course of the stormwater drain. The drain flows through the area and eventually empties into a creek located to the west of Evershine Nagar in Malad West.

The intensive search along the course of the drain concluded on Wednesday morning when the teams successfully recovered Verma's body.
