Bombay HC Grants Pre-Arrest Bail to 84-Year-Old in Bandra Property Forgery Case

The Bombay High Court has granted interim protection from arrest to 84-year-old Akhtar Hasan Rizvi in connection with a case involving the alleged forgery of a 1979 conveyance deed for a property in Bandra.

Justice Prafulla S. Khubalkar passed the order while hearing Rizvi’s anticipatory bail application. The matter is currently under investigation by the Economic Offences Wing over allegations of cheating and forgery.

According to the complaint lodged by Abdul Jabbar Shaikh, the dispute centers on a building named ‘Rahenam Allah Ka Manzil’. Shaikh stated that a sale deed registered in 1979 for Rs 50,000 transferred the property in favour of Rizvi Estates and Hotels Pvt. Ltd.

The complainant alleged that the 1979 document purportedly bore the signatures of his grandmother, the original owner of the building. However, she had died in 1968, 11 years prior to the execution of the transaction.

Shaikh said the matter came to light in 2022 following family disputes regarding the ownership of the building. Upon examining property records obtained under the Right to Information Act, he discovered the 1979 transaction and alleged that forged documents were utilized and an impersonator was presented before registration authorities.
