Bombay High Court Cancels Typing Test for 1,362 Clerk Posts Over Glitches

The Bombay High Court on Saturday cancelled the typing test conducted for the recruitment of 1,362 clerk posts across Maharashtra following widespread technical glitches at examination centres, ordering a fresh test to be held.

The decision followed protests by candidates who reported that multiple disruptions during the test had compromised their performance. Candidates highlighted severe issues including server failures, non-responsive keyboards, software lag, automatic logouts, and discrepancies in test start times across venues.

In an official notice issued on Saturday, the Registrar (Personnel) stated that the August 16 typing test was cancelled “to uphold the highest standards of fairness in the selection process.” The notice added that the fresh test would take place on a date and at venues to be announced separately on the High Court’s official website.

Prior to the decision, affected candidates had demanded a re-examination, raising concerns over the conduct of the test and the fairness of the evaluation. CJP founder Abhijit Dipke supported the candidates' protests and met with affected applicants to discuss the technical difficulties encountered during the exam.

The Clerk Typing Skill Test requires applicants to type a 400-word English passage within a 10-minute limit, meeting a minimum speed requirement of 40 words per minute.
