Borivli School Fee Hike Dispute Reaches Chief Minister Office

The controversy surrounding the fee structure at Swami Vivekanand International School in Gorai, Borivli West, has escalated to the highest level of state administration. On June 29, 2026, the dispute between the school management and a parent over an alleged fee hike officially reached the Maharashtra Chief Minister's Office.
The conflict centers on allegations that the school has violated Maharashtra's fee regulation rules. A parent of a student at the school has accused the administration of raising fees beyond the legally permitted limits. Meanwhile, the school’s administration and management have firmly rejected these claims, stating that their revised fees are fully compliant with the law.
According to the parent, multiple attempts were made to seek clarification from the school authorities regarding the hike. The parent sought to understand how the increased fees remained within the upper limits set by the state's education department. However, the parent reported that the school authorities failed to provide a satisfactory explanation.
The parent expressed frustration over the lack of communication from the school. "I have been asking the school administration to explain the fee hike and justify how the raise is within the fee rule act and upper limits set by the education department," the parent stated. "But, the school administration and management have failed to give a satisfactory response."
On the other hand, the management of Swami Vivekanand International School has maintained a contrary stance. The school administration denied all allegations of violating any state rules. They asserted that the revised fee structure was established in accordance with all prescribed norms, regulations, and procedures mandated by the government.
The issue has drawn significant attention as it involves adherence to Maharashtra's strict fee regulation rules. These rules are designed to govern how private educational institutions structure and increase their fees. The escalation of this specific dispute to the Chief Minister's Office highlights the ongoing tension between parents and school administrations over educational costs.
