Central Railway Announces 15-Night Traffic Blocks Between Kalyan and Vasind
Commuters on Central Railway's Kasara route will face disruptions for 15 consecutive nights from August 28/29 to September 11/12 as railway authorities carry out platform extension work at Titwala. The infrastructure work will make the platform suitable for 15-car suburban rakes, leading to service changes affecting Thane, Kalyan, and surrounding stations.
The first phase of the work runs from August 28/29 to September 1/2 and will involve a nightly block lasting five hours and 40 minutes, from 11.30 pm to 5.10 am. The block will be enforced between Kalyan and Vasind on the Up and Down North East lines.
Late-night and early-morning suburban services between Titwala and Kasara will face major impacts during the first phase. On the night of August 28/29, several CSMT-Titwala and CSMT-Kasara locals will be cancelled, and services from Titwala towards Thane and CSMT will be affected. The CSMT-Asangaon local leaving at 8.56 pm will short-terminate at Titwala, while Dombivli-CSMT and Kalyan-CSMT locals departing around 10.00 pm will short-terminate at Thane.
Before the block begins, the final Kasara-bound local will depart CSMT at 10.47 pm. Following the block, the first service to Kasara will leave CSMT at 4.19 am, while the earliest Kasara-CSMT local will depart Kasara at 3.51 am.
Between August 29/30 and September 1/2, all Titwala-bound suburban services will be extended to Asangaon. Trains that normally originate from Titwala will instead originate from Asangaon during this period, while some other services will terminate at Thane or Kalyan.
Daytime services will also see alterations. The 6.30 am CSMT-Titwala AC local and the 3.33 pm Dadar-Titwala AC service will run only up to Thane. Multiple CSMT-Titwala services will be restricted to Thane or Kalyan, and several Titwala-CSMT services will start from Thane or Kalyan instead.
Long-distance trains will face delays and regulations. The Gorakhpur-Dadar Express and Ballia-Dadar Express will be regulated at Vasind or Atgaon on specified nights. In addition, the Jananeshwari Express, Shalimar-LTT Express, Howrah-CSMT Mail, and Mau-LTT Express are scheduled to reach Mumbai 10 to 20 minutes behind schedule.
Central Railway stated that the blocks are essential for infrastructure development and safety. Details regarding subsequent blocks after September 1/2 will be released separately.
