Central Railway Begins Platform Extension at Titwala Station for 15-Car Trains

Central Railway has commenced a 15-day special traffic and power block at Titwala railway station to carry out platform extension work designed to accommodate 15-car local trains. The infrastructure upgrade, taking place along the Kalyan-Kasara corridor, is scheduled to run during nightly blocks from August 29 to September 12.

The second phase of the block operation is set to run from the midnight of September 2/3 to September 8/9. During this phase, traffic and power blocks will be enforced for five hours each night between 12:00 am and 5:00 am.

The ongoing construction work will affect train services operating on the Up and Down North-East lines. As a result, Central Railway will regulate services, leading to cancellations, short terminations, and the rescheduling of select suburban and long-distance trains during the block windows.

Central Railway chief spokesperson Swapnil Nila stated that the project is aimed at supporting future growth in suburban ridership and enhancing the public transport network across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. Railway officials noted that while the nightly blocks will cause temporary inconvenience, the work will deliver long-term operational improvements and enhanced rail capacity.

Central Railway has requested commuters to plan their travel in advance and cooperate with railway authorities while the platform extension work is completed.
