Central Railway Launches Emergency Medical Rooms at 12 Mumbai Stations

On Wednesday, July 15, 2026, Central Railway launched Emergency Medical Rooms at 12 stations across the Mumbai division, including upcoming facilities at Chembur and Mankhurd, to provide immediate medical assistance to passengers and railway staff. The newly introduced medical rooms are aimed at improving emergency response times during the critical golden hour, ensuring that patients receive treatment as quickly as possible when emergencies occur on the railway network.

According to an official statement from Central Railway, the Emergency Medical Rooms have been set up to address the urgent medical needs of the travelling public and the railway staff who manage the stations. The presence of these dedicated medical rooms at the stations will allow for swift intervention before patients can be transferred to larger hospital facilities. This initiative is expected to play a key role in handling emergencies directly on the station premises.

In addition to the 12 stations where the services have already been launched, Central Railway confirmed that Emergency Medical Rooms at Chembur, Mankhurd, and Khopoli stations are scheduled to become operational shortly. These locations will soon offer the same immediate medical support to commuters and staff members in those areas, further expanding the reach of the emergency services.

To further enhance safety and medical care across the rail network, Central Railway has announced plans to expand the initiative. The railway authority intends to set up Emergency Medical Rooms at 40 more stations across the Mumbai division. This planned expansion will significantly increase the reach of emergency medical services, ensuring a safer commute for passengers across a larger number of railway stations in the division.

The launch of these facilities represents a targeted effort by Central Railway to utilise the critical golden hour effectively. By having medical rooms directly on site at railway stations, Central Railway aims to provide immediate care to passengers and staff during medical emergencies, minimizing delays in treatment. The expansion to 40 additional stations will continue this effort to secure passenger wellness across the division.
