Chargesheet blames drug network and security lapses for Goregaon concert deaths

The Vanrai Police have filed a chargesheet detailing how an organized MDMA drug network and major security lapses led to the deaths of two young concert-goers at a music festival in Goregaon East, Mumbai. The tragedy, which occurred in April at the NESCO Exhibition Centre, was allegedly enabled by glaring security lapses and negligence on the part of the event organisers.

According to the chargesheet details reported on July 17, 2026, investigators found that an organized drug network flourished directly inside the Goregaon East venue during the music festival. This network is blamed for the distribution of MDMA that ultimately resulted in the two fatalities at the event.

The police investigation into the incident has so far led to the arrest of 15 accused persons. Among those taken into custody by the Vanrai Police is Vineet Gerelani. Police officers allegedly recovered 15 Ecstasy pills from Gerelani's residence during their search.

In addition to the 15 arrested individuals, several other accused suspects remain absconding. Investigators have established the identity of one of the key absconding suspects, who is alleged to be an international MDMA supplier involved in the network.

The Vanrai Police chargesheet emphasizes that the lack of adequate security measures by the event organisers played a critical role in allowing the illicit drug network to operate within the NESCO Exhibition Centre. The investigation continues as authorities track down the remaining absconding suspects associated with the drug distribution network.
