Chembur Man Arrested After 24-Year-Old Girlfriend Dies from Poisoned Drink

A 24-year-old woman died after allegedly consuming a poisoned soft drink provided by her boyfriend at RCF village in Chembur, leading to the man's arrest by the police.

The deceased has been identified as Vishnumaya. According to police, the incident came to light between August 25 and August 26, when she died under suspicious circumstances at Bungalow No. 57-A in Mysore Colony. Her family found her unconscious in her room and rushed her to a hospital, where she later succumbed during treatment.

Police suspect that her boyfriend, identified as Ashish Magar, administered the poison over suspicion that she was in a relationship with another man. Investigators noted that Magar initially attempted to mislead the inquiry and portray the death as natural.

During the probe, RCF police questioned individuals connected with the case and examined circumstantial evidence. Investigators allegedly found that Magar had given Vishnumaya a Thums Up containing a poisonous substance.

Magar was subsequently arrested and remanded to five-day police custody. Further investigation into the matter is underway.
