Chinchpokli Cha Chintamani Aagman Procession Begins in Parel Under Tight Security

Thousands of devotees gathered in Parel on Saturday as the Chinchpokli Cha Chintamani aagman procession began from the Central Railway Workshop Ground ahead of Ganeshotsav. The arrival procession departed at 12 noon and is making its way through the Lalbaug-Parel belt before reaching the Chintamani mandap in Chinchpokli.

For this year’s celebrations, the Chinchpokli Cha Chintamani mandal unveiled a Ganesh idol designed around a sacred theme inspired by Lord Venkateswara (Sri Tirupati Balaji). The first look of the idol was revealed earlier on Saturday, attracting massive interest as devotees lined the streets along the procession corridor.

According to the mandal's planned schedule, the procession departed from the Parel Central Railway Workshop Ground at 12 noon, heading towards the ITC Hotel Junction by 1:00 pm and Bharat Mata Junction by 2:00 pm. The route further spans the Ganesh Gully Junction, Ganesh Colour Lab, Lalbaug Market Junction, and Mumbai Rejoice Restaurant, with an expected arrival at the Chintamani mandap in Chinchpokli by 10:00 pm. Organisers noted that exact timings may vary depending on the pace of the procession and crowd movement.

For devotees unable to reach the Lalbaug-Parel neighbourhood or looking to avoid the dense crowds, the mandal arranged a live broadcast of the entire aagman procession on its official YouTube channel.

Security has been heavily fortified along the route, particularly around the Kalachowki signal and the Lalbaug-Parel stretch. Approximately 800 to 1,000 police personnel have been deployed to oversee crowd management and maintain law and order.

The deployment includes teams from the Mumbai Police, the Rapid Action Force (RAF), and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), supported by numerous police vehicles. Authorities increased security presence in response to recent tension in Parel and the large congregation of devotees gathered along the route.
