Chitpavan Foundation to Host 2.5-Kilometre Ashadhi Vitthal Wari in Nerul on July 19

The Chitpavan Foundation is scheduled to organise its annual Ashadhi Vitthal Wari devotional procession in Nerul, Navi Mumbai, on Sunday, July 19. The 2.5-kilometre traditional event is set to begin at 7 a.m. from the entry gate of the Jewel of Navi Mumbai, inviting participation from residents of all faiths, castes, and communities to foster local unity.

The procession will follow a specific route through Nerul. After starting at the entry gate of the Jewel of Navi Mumbai, the marchers will proceed via the Agri Koli Bhavan and the Wazirani Sports Complex. The procession will then return toward the Jewel of Navi Mumbai before finally concluding at the Vitthal-Rukmini Temple, which is located opposite the Nerul Gymkhana.

To build a traditional devotional atmosphere, the organisers have encouraged members of the public to bring their own musical instruments. Specifically, participants are invited to bring cymbals, locally known as taal, as well as zhanja, to play during the 2.5-kilometre walk.

Once the dindi reaches the Vitthal-Rukmini Temple, a religious programme will commence. This will include the singing of devotional songs, or bhajans, followed by the performing of the traditional aarti. The entire event will conclude with the distribution of prasad and light refreshments to all the participants.

The Chitpavan Foundation has emphasised that the Wari is fully inclusive and open to any member of the public who wishes to join, regardless of their religious or caste background.

Additionally, the organisers announced that voluntary cash donations will be accepted at the conclusion of the event to support the foundation's efforts. They explicitly clarified that these donations must be in cash, as online payment modes or UPI transactions will not be accepted.

To facilitate coordination, a dedicated WhatsApp group will be set up to coordinate the event and share updates. Organisers have urged residents to invite friends and relatives to join the gathering.
