CIDCO and Nerul Police Check 85 People in Night Drive at Nerul Station

The City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) security department and the Nerul police carried out a special night-time drive at Nerul railway station on Tuesday, September 1, taking action against approximately 85 people found loitering on the premises.

The joint operation was organized to address persistent complaints regarding beggars and suspected drug users allegedly causing inconvenience to daily commuters and railway passengers passing through the station.

The drive was conducted under the direct guidance of CIDCO’s Chief Vigilance Officer alongside the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Zone 2, Navi Mumbai. During the inspection, security personnel and police officers jointly checked around 85 individuals, including beggars and suspected drug users gathered at the station premises.

According to CIDCO, the action was initiated after both the Nerul police station and the CIDCO security department received multiple complaints from the public. Commuters had reported regular nuisance and disruptions caused by individuals loitering around the platforms and concourse areas.

Following the night-time operation, commuters and local residents using Nerul railway station expressed satisfaction with the enforcement measures, according to a press note issued by the authorities.

In the wake of the drive, CIDCO has issued an appeal urging citizens to report similar issues across railway stations in Navi Mumbai. Commuters have been asked to flag the presence of unauthorised hawkers, suspected drug users, and shopkeepers who occupy public spaces or illegally display their goods at station complexes. Citizens can submit these complaints directly through the official CIDCO website.
