CIDCO Seizes 11 Dumpers for Illegal Debris Dumping in Vashi and Ulwe

On July 14, 2026, the City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) seized 11 dumpers and initiated criminal action against drivers for illegally dumping construction debris on vacant plots in Navi Mumbai, specifically targeting vehicles near the Vashi toll plaza and in the Ulwe node. The joint enforcement operation was launched to address growing environmental and public health concerns caused by unauthorized waste disposal.

The operation was conducted under the guidance of CIDCO Chief Vigilance Officer Suresh Mengde. The joint team comprised officials from CIDCO's Vigilance Department, the Engineering Department, the Navi Mumbai Traffic Police, and security personnel.

Of the 11 seized dumpers, nine were intercepted near the Vashi toll plaza while transporting debris from Mumbai. The other two dumpers were caught at Ulwe after entering Navi Mumbai via the Atal Setu.

Police detained seven dumper drivers, while four others abandoned their vehicles and fled. Authorities have launched a search to trace the absconding drivers.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the debris was being transported for illegal disposal on various vacant CIDCO plots. Criminal cases have been registered against five identified drivers: Nizamuddin Khan, 38; Devkumar Ben Vanshi, 33; Mahadech Ganju, 60; Mahmand Miraj, 29; and Vinod Bharti, 45.

In a separate operation on Saturday morning, two additional dumpers carrying debris were intercepted at Ulwe after entering via the Atal Setu route. A case has been registered against the driver at the Ulwe Police Station.

A CIDCO spokesperson stated that the corporation has adopted a zero-tolerance approach towards the illegal dumping of debris on its land. The spokesperson noted that such activities damage the environment and hinder planned urban development, adding that joint enforcement drives will continue and strict legal action will be taken against violators.

CIDCO has also appealed to citizens to report any instances of illegal debris dumping on its land to the corporation or the nearest police station to enable prompt action.
