CJP and Student Groups Protest at Shivaji Park Seeking CEC Gyanesh Kumar's Resignation

A large crowd of young protesters gathered at Shivaji Park in Dadar on Friday to stage a satirical agitation demanding the immediate resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Organised under the banner of the Cockroach Janta Party, the demonstration brought together student organisations and youth activists who voiced their opposition to the election chief.
The demonstration took place despite opposition from Shivaji Park residents and amidst severe heat. In response to the gathering, police set up heavy security deployments and a wall of barricades that extended all the way up to Dadar station to monitor and manage the crowds.
Demonstrators waved tricolours and carried satirical placards featuring memes and film dialogues directed at the Chief Election Commissioner. Protesters also filled the locality with revolutionary slogans and Gandhian quotes, holding signs with slogans such as "Gyanu, Tujha Democracy Var Bharosa Nay Kay?", "Gyanesh BRO, JUST RESIGN", and "Gaddaar Gyaanu Must Go".
Activists from organisations including the Student Federation of India joined the demonstration, with participants bringing unconventional props to voice their concerns. Among them was Manish Mandal, a student from Sion, who wore jewellery fashioned out of "Melody" chocolate wrappers while carrying a banner that read "Fraud detergent powder" in Devanagari script.
Groups affiliated with the All India Students' Federation from Pune also participated in the gathering near the park's perimeter. They incorporated musical instruments into the demonstration, leading rhythmic chants of "Chale Jao", "Vapas Do", and "Band Karo" throughout the protest.
