CM Fadnavis Recommends Judicial Probe Into MPSC Paper Leaks and Officials

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on October 6, 2026, recommended the formation of an inquiry committee headed by a retired High Court judge to probe former and incumbent chairpersons and members of the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC). The decision follows widespread concerns over examination paper leaks and operational irregularities within the state recruitment body.
According to sources, Fadnavis submitted the recommendation to Maharashtra Governor Jishnu Dev Varma in Mumbai. The proposed committee has been tasked with examining the conduct and administrative functioning of both past and present leadership within the commission.
The inquiry panel will be chaired by a retired High Court judge. It will specifically look into allegations of malpractice, procedural flaws, and paper leaks tied to competitive examinations organised by the MPSC.
Under the framework of the recommendation, the judicial committee will be required to conclude its proceedings and submit an official report within three months.
State authorities indicated that decisions regarding subsequent action against any individuals or officials will be determined after reviewing the findings and conclusions presented in the final report.
