Constable Rutik Dhole Killed in Car Crash on Karjat-Murbad Road

A 26-year-old police constable was killed and four of his friends were grievously injured after their car crashed on the Karjat-Murbad road in Raigad on Wednesday night. The deceased, identified as Constable Rutik Dhole, was attached to the Shrivardhan police.

The incident occurred as Dhole, who was originally a resident of Chahuchi wadi in Karjat, was returning to his own house. He was accompanied by four of his friends inside the vehicle during the journey.

While driving along the Karjat-Murbad road, Dhole lost control of the car at a sharp turn. The vehicle veered off the road and crashed directly into a steel railing situated on the roadside. The impact of the collision caused extensive damage to the bonnet portion of the car, leaving the occupants trapped inside the vehicle.

Upon witnessing the accident, local residents and personnel from the nearby Kalamb police outpost rushed to the scene to initiate rescue efforts. Together, the locals and the Kalamb police personnel worked to pull out the victims who were stuck inside the damaged car.

Once extricated from the vehicle, all five occupants were rushed to a hospital located at Bhivpuri for emergency medical treatment. However, Dhole succumbed to his injuries and died before he could arrive at the hospital.

The four friends who were traveling with the constable sustained grievous injuries in the crash. They are currently undergoing medical treatment at the hospital, and authorities have learnt that they are now out of danger.

Following the incident, the Neral police registered a fatal accident case. The police have posthumously booked the deceased constable under the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Motor Vehicle Act. Further investigation into the circumstances of the crash is currently ongoing.
