Couple allegedly kills wife's lover in Dombivli, confesses in voicemail to landlord

The police have launched a search for a couple who allegedly murdered the wife's lover inside their rented flat in the Manpada locality of Dombivli, Thane district. The crime came to light on Monday morning when the highly decomposed body of a man, believed to be around 40 years old, was recovered from the locked residence after the wife confessed to the killing in a voicemail sent to their landlord.

The flat owner discovered the crime after noticing a foul smell emanating from the property. According to Senior Police Inspector Sandeepan Shinde, the residential unit had remained locked for the past four days before the discovery.

Upon noticing the stench, the flat owner immediately attempted to contact his tenant to find out what was happening. In response, the tenant's wife sent a voicemail to the owner, purportedly confessing that her lover had been troubling her, which led her and her husband to kill him inside the house.

After receiving the confession, the house owner immediately alerted the local authorities. Manpada police teams rushed to the spot, broke open the locked door, and discovered the highly decomposed body of the victim inside the premises.

Investigators found that the accused couple had left a washroom tap running before they fled. Senior Police Inspector Shinde stated that this was presumably done to create ambient noise and wash away bodily fluids to delay the detection of the crime.

The identity of the deceased man has not yet been established. Authorities have shifted the body to a government hospital for a post-mortem examination.

The Manpada police have registered a First Information Report against the couple under Section 103 (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Police teams are actively working on several leads and have been dispatched to various locations to track down the missing couple.
