Couple Escapes Injury as Tree Falls on Moving Motorcycle on Bhiwandi-Wadpa Road

A couple travelling on a motorcycle had a narrow escape on Friday when a fully grown green tree suddenly collapsed onto their moving vehicle near Pogaon on the Bhiwandi-Wadpa Road.

The incident took place near Garden Tandoor as the couple was travelling from Chavindra towards Pogaon. Without warning, the roadside tree fell onto the middle of the road, giving the motorists almost no time to react to the falling trunk.

As the tree began to crash down, the rider steered the Honda Unicorn motorcycle toward the opposite side of the road to avoid being crushed directly underneath. The quick manoeuvre helped the couple avoid serious injuries, though the falling tree struck the front portion of the motorcycle, causing significant damage.

The collapse blocked the carriageway heading towards Nashik, leading to major disruption on the busy route. Passing vehicles were forced to come to a halt, resulting in a long queue of traffic accumulating along the stretch.

Local residents rushed to the scene immediately to assist the couple and pulled the damaged motorcycle out from under the heavy branches. The sudden collapse caused brief panic among other motorists navigating the route.

A JCB machine was subsequently deployed to clear the obstruction. Workers removed the fallen tree from the roadway, enabling authorities to restore regular traffic movement along the corridor.

The incident has highlighted concerns regarding the stability and condition of roadside trees along the Bhiwandi-Nashik route, particularly during the monsoon period when heavy rainfall and strong winds heighten the risk of trees and large branches collapsing onto active roadways.
