Customs Arrests Bangkok Flyer at Mumbai Airport with Hydroponic Weed Worth Rs 70 Lakh

Customs officials at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International (CSMI) Airport in Mumbai have arrested a passenger arriving from Bangkok for allegedly attempting to smuggle hydroponic weed valued at Rs 70 lakh.
Acting on specific intelligence indicating that a passenger might be carrying contraband, officers from the Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) intercepted a man identified as Sabhajeet Sahu, a resident of Uttar Pradesh, upon his arrival in Mumbai.
Following the interception, AIU officials conducted a detailed examination of Sahu's baggage. During the search, officers detected a false cavity constructed at the bottom of the bag.
Upon opening the concealed compartment, the team recovered two vacuum-sealed transparent plastic packets. The packets contained a green-coloured substance identified as the fruiting and flowering tops of the cannabis plant, commonly known as hydroponic weed or marijuana.
In total, officials seized two kilograms of the illicit substance, with an estimated market value of Rs 70 lakh.
During questioning by Customs authorities, Sahu admitted to smuggling the narcotics into the country in exchange for quick and easy money. He was placed under arrest by Customs officials following the recovery and formal seizure of the contraband.
