Dahisar DMart Cashier and Customer Booked for Rs 10,000 Billing Fraud

Dahisar DMart Cashier and Customer Booked for Rs 10,000 Billing Fraud

The MHB Colony Police have registered an FIR against a part-time cashier and a customer for allegedly defrauding the DMart supermarket in Dahisar West. The cashier is accused of conniving with the customer to pass products out of the store without scanning or billing them.

The fraud came to light following a complaint lodged by a facility staffer at the Dahisar West outlet. The store management initially noticed discrepancies during a routine inventory check in July 2026, when an employee discovered that several products were missing from the daily stock. The employee immediately alerted store manager Mangesh Nevrekar and the cash officer.

Upon reviewing the supermarket's CCTV footage, the store management observed that part-time cashier Abhishek Maurya had sold products to customers without scanning them on July 20 and July 26. Following this discovery, the management placed Maurya under close watch.

On August 7, management officials again spotted Maurya handing over unbilled items to a customer. The minute the customer stepped out of the store, store manager Mangesh Nevrekar confronted him. The customer was identified as Vikas Kanojia, a laundryman by profession.

An inspection revealed that Kanojia had 91 products in his possession, but only 72 were billed. The 19 unbilled items included garments, dry fruits, cosmetics, a mobile phone stand, and oil, with a total value of nearly Rs 10,000.

Following the confrontation, the MHB Colony Police were informed, and an official complaint was lodged against both Maurya and Kanojia. According to the police, Maurya resides in Dahisar and has been employed at the store for the past two years. Police officers are probing the matter further.
