Dahisar Police and residents rescue man trapped in open drain during heavy rains

Dahisar Police and local residents successfully rescued a man who accidentally fell into an open, fast-flowing drain during heavy monsoon rains in Dahisar, Mumbai. The dramatic rescue operation, which was captured on video and shared by the Mumbai Police on Thursday, occurred after the victim became trapped near a rapid water channel.
According to the Mumbai Police, the incident first came to light after the police control room received information about a man trapped inside a drain in Dahisar. A team from the Dahisar Police Station was immediately dispatched, rushing to the spot to launch a rescue operation.
Upon arriving at the scene, the rescue team found the victim trapped near a fast-flowing portion of the drain. Officials stated that the rescue team displayed a quick response and presence of mind by cutting through an iron mesh to reach the man and safely pull him out.
A video of the rescue shared by the Mumbai Police on the social media platform X shows two police officers alongside local residents working together to pull the man out of the open drain. The rescuers used ropes and physical support to haul him to safety.
Once the man was pulled out, other police officers and local residents helped the visibly shaken man stand up. A police vehicle was also seen stationed near the spot during the operation to assist the team.
The rescued man sustained injuries during the incident and was immediately provided with medical attention. Authorities later traced his relatives and successfully reunited him with his family.
