Devendra Fadnavis Launches Tiranga Yatra at Worli Sea Face Promenade in Mumbai
Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis launched the Tiranga Yatra at the Worli Sea Face promenade in Mumbai on Monday, calling the initiative a movement to tell anti-India forces to "quit India" while building a developed nation.
The Tiranga rally at Worli Sea Face was organized as part of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Har Ghar Tiranga campaign. Addressing the gathering, Fadnavis contrasted the present movement with the Quit India movement of 1942, describing the historic struggle as a "do or die movement" against British rule, whereas today's effort aims at national development and unity.
Fadnavis stressed that citizens should not get divided over caste, community, or petty differences, emphasizing that national interest must take priority. He stated that the Tricolour symbolises national pride, honour, and respect for the Constitution, while reiterating the need to stand firm against entities trying to destabilise the country.
During his speech, Fadnavis highlighted India's progress under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, noting that the country has emerged as a major economic and technological power. He pointed to achievements in space exploration, start-ups, and the IT sector, noting that India became the first country in the world to land a spacecraft on the Moon’s south pole and the second after the USA to launch a spacecraft through a private company.
Fadnavis stated that external and internal forces apprehensive about India’s rise are attempting to hinder its progress by interfering in internal affairs. However, he expressed confidence that the country’s young population and citizens carrying the Tricolour would not allow such attempts to succeed, declaring that "India cannot be stopped."
Looking ahead to the goal of achieving a developed India by 2047, Fadnavis said the responsibility rests with citizens, asserting that Maharashtra will remain at the forefront of the nation's development journey. Following the event in Mumbai, Fadnavis is scheduled to participate in the Tiranga Yatra in Pune on Tuesday and in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar on August 14.
