Dispute Breaks Out at Thane Housing Society Over Pet Dogs on Common Bench

A disagreement broke out between two residents at a housing society in Thane over two pet dogs sitting on a common bench in the residential complex during the monsoon, leading to a confrontation that was recorded and shared on social media.

The incident unfolded when an older resident objected to a dog owner allowing her two pets, named Bruno and Shadow, to rest on a shared society bench. The pet owner recorded the exchange and defended her pets, later uploading the video online.

According to the dog owner, the benches were already wet due to heavy rain in the area. She argued that she always cleaned the seating area before leaving and stated that her dogs had been using the society benches for nearly five years without any prior complaints.

"Maine apne dogs ko yahan pe baithaya hai and yahan pe already paani hai," the pet owner said during the exchange, pointing out that the surface was already covered with rainwater. She questioned why her pets were being asked to move despite her routine cleaning.

The older resident countered that the benches were meant for people to sit on in the morning, noting that residents gather in the area for yoga. She also claimed that she had seen the dog owner fail to clean the benches a few days prior to the confrontation.

The exchange escalated as both women asked each other for their names and flat numbers. The older resident threatened to call society security, to which the dog owner replied, "Yes, call them." The pet owner emphasized that her dogs are living beings and should not be treated as objects to be moved whenever an objection is raised.

The video was shared online with the caption, "Was It Wrong? I Do Clean That Place Daily," where it drew divided reactions over pet ownership, hygiene concerns, and the use of shared amenities in residential societies.
