DJ Nucleya's Aagman Performance at Chinchpoklicha Chintamani Sparks Debate

Electronic music artist DJ Nucleya performed a high-energy set during the Aagman celebration of Chinchpoklicha Chintamani in Mumbai, following the idol's arrival procession through the Lalbaug and Parel areas.

The performance took place after the idol was brought from the Parel Central Railway Workshop Ground to its mandap. Nucleya took over the stage late into the evening, drawing massive crowds of devotees and attendees who danced to his signature electronic beats.

The event occurred shortly after the mandal unveiled the first look of the Chinchpoklicha Chintamani idol. This year, the mandal adopted Lord Tirupati Balaji as the theme for the idol and surrounding decorations while retaining the traditional, familiar facial design of the Chintamani idol.

Thousands of devotees lined the streets along the Lalbaug-Parel route to witness the procession before the celebration transitioned into the music performance at the mandap.

Videos of the performance circulated widely on social media, triggering mixed reactions and an online debate. While several attendees and social media users welcomed the contemporary electronic music fusion as part of the Ganeshotsav festivities, others argued that Aagman ceremonies should remain focused on traditional devotional elements such as dhol-tasha pathaks, aartis, and devotional music.
