Dr Shrikant Shinde Inaugurates Civic, Green Projects in Jogeshwari
A series of civic development and beautification projects across the Jogeshwari Assembly constituency in Mumbai were inaugurated on Thursday by Shiv Sena Lok Sabha group leader and Member of Parliament Dr Shrikant Shinde. Undertaken through the MP Local Area Development Fund of Mumbai North-West MP Ravindra Waikar, the initiatives focus on improving civic amenities, advancing environmental sustainability, and supporting local students and residents.
Among the primary civic infrastructure projects unveiled during the programme was a modern multi-purpose toilet and service centre constructed near the Hinduhridaysamrat Shiv Sena chief Balasaheb Thackeray Trauma Municipal Care Hospital. The new facility has been established to serve the needs of local residents as well as the relatives of patients visiting the municipal hospital.
To enhance the visual appeal of the neighbourhood and highlight regional history, artistic wall murals depicting the rich tradition of Maharashtra’s saints were also created as part of the beautification drive, showcasing the state's cultural heritage to the public.
In an environmental push, a solar power generation project was inaugurated at Shyam Nagar Lake, located near the Ichhapurti Ganesh Temple. Modeled along the lines of the ‘Surya Ghar’ scheme, this solar installation is designed to encourage renewable energy adoption and help curb overall electricity consumption in the local area.
Community facilities and educational resources were further expanded with the opening of a metro-themed library near the MMRDA Colony in Durganagar, accessible to both students and area residents. Alongside the library, a new drinking water facility was formally inaugurated near Shaheed Vijay Salaskar Garden to cater to commuters and local citizens.
In a dedicated welfare measure aimed at youth, 200 deserving and needy students studying in Classes 8 to 12 were provided free bicycles. The distribution of bicycles is intended to facilitate their daily travel and make their commute to school significantly easier.
Speaking at the event, Dr Shinde praised MP Ravindra Waikar for his systematic approach to local development, noting that Waikar is closely connected with the issues of the people and has utilised his MP fund in a planned manner for inclusive development. The inauguration programme saw large attendance from Shiv Sena office-bearers, functionaries, local representatives, citizens, and students, with the completed works expected to improve civic amenities and contribute to the overall development of Jogeshwari.
