Eight Booked After Ugandan Businessman Assaulted Outside Khar West Pub

The Khar police have registered a First Information Report against eight people after a 28-year-old Ugandan businessman alleged that he was assaulted twice following an accidental elbow contact at a pub in Khar West early on Monday.

According to the police, the complainant, Prince Louis Mushabe, was inside Rasta Bombay Pub in Khar West when the initial altercation occurred. Mushabe stated that his elbow accidentally brushed against a woman while he was shaking hands with an unidentified man. Following the contact, the woman and a male companion allegedly slapped Mushabe before venue bouncers intervened to break up the confrontation.

A second assault took place shortly afterward when Mushabe encountered the woman again near Union Bank on 5th Road in Khar. During this encounter, a male friend of the woman allegedly pushed Mushabe to the ground and assaulted him. Mushabe sustained physical injuries, suffered damage to his wristwatch, and later reported hearing loss in his left ear.

Investigators from the Khar police station analysed CCTV camera footage from the area to track the suspects. Within 12 hours of the incident, police traced six of the accused to their residences in Goregaon. The six individuals were identified as Murad Al Rahisi, 26, Ritika Al Rahisi, 25, Naimuddin Shaikh, 37, Mohit Ramraje, 23, Navnit Jha, 28, and Arnav Jha, 28.

Police officials stated that the six detained individuals work as struggling actors and background artistes in the city. After being detained, they were served notices and released by the police. Two other suspects involved in the incident have not yet been identified.

During questioning, the accused claimed that Mushabe had misbehaved with their female friend inside the pub, an allegation that the complainant denied. Officers are continuing to examine surveillance recordings from the pub and surrounding streets to establish what triggered the altercation.
