Eknath Shinde Announces Raigad Fort Water Scheme At 353rd Coronation Anniversary

On Saturday, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde celebrated the 353rd coronation anniversary of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj at Raigad Fort, announcing a new gravity-based water supply scheme and pledging state support for the historic site's conservation. The event, held according to the traditional Hindu calendar, drew thousands of devotees and key state officials to the fort.

Addressing the gathering, Shinde stated that the state government is committed to preserving Raigad Fort. To resolve the long-standing drinking water shortage at the site, Shinde announced the approval of a gravity-based water supply scheme, which was proposed by the Raigad district administration.

Shinde also assured the public that the state's flagship scheme, the Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana, would continue without interruption. Additionally, addressing concerns over a delayed monsoon, he promised that the government would support farmers facing potential drought conditions, stating that the state treasury's first claim belongs to them.

The government reiterated its commitment to conserving and globally promoting 12 historic forts in Maharashtra, including Raigad Fort, which have received UNESCO World Heritage status.

State Employment Guarantee Scheme Minister Bharat Gogawale urged the government to speed up conservation work. He requested final approval and additional funding for the proposed 'Shivsrushti' project at Pachad, where 80 to 85 acres of land have already been acquired. Gogawale also called for coordination with the Centre to resolve technical hurdles with the Archaeological Survey authorities regarding damaged fort walls.

The anniversary celebrations began with a ceremonial guard of honour by the Raigad Police. A traditional palanquin procession accompanied by Vedic chants made its way to the royal court, where dignitaries performed an abhishek of the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The event featured dhol-tasha performances, powadas, folk dances, and martial arts displays.

Other notable attendees included Minister of State for Rural Development Yogesh Kadam, Pimpri-Chinchwad Mayor Ravi Landge, Raigad Collector Kishan Jawale, Zilla Parishad Chief Executive Officer Neha Bhosale, and Superintendent of Police Aachal Dalal.
