Eknath Shinde Inaugurates Three-Day World Photography Day Exhibition in Thane

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and Thane District Guardian Minister Eknath Shinde inaugurated a three-day photo exhibition on Monday at the Thane Municipal Corporation headquarters to mark World Photography Day.

The exhibition was jointly organized by the Thane Municipal Corporation and the Thane City Dainik Patrkar Sangh. Several prominent leaders and civic officials attended the opening ceremony, including Member of Parliament Naresh Maske, Thane Mayor Sharmila Rohit Pimpalolkar, local MLAs, and Municipal Commissioner Saurabh Rao.

Addressing journalists, photographers, and visitors at the event, Shinde praised photojournalists for their vigilance, timing, and dedication to public service. He emphasized the crucial role photojournalism plays in documenting history and driving social change.

Shinde noted that photographers perform an essential duty for society by capturing the truth through their lenses, stating that a single photograph can convey thousands of untold stories. He highlighted the historical importance of the profession by citing the role photojournalists played during the 26/11 terror attacks in Mumbai, when photographers captured images of terrorist Ajmal Kasab that provided globally recognized evidence.

Emphasizing that the exhibition should become an annual tradition, the Deputy Chief Minister suggested a theme for next year's edition titled 'Changing Thane'. He encouraged photographers to capture the city's ongoing transformation from past to present, documenting both positive developments and civic gaps to provide constructive visual feedback for administrative improvement.

The exhibition is located on the first floor of the Thane Municipal Corporation headquarters and displays a collection of photographs showcasing the city's social, political, and cultural evolution. The display remains open to the public through August 19.
