Eknath Shinde Meets Amit Shah In New Delhi To Discuss Constituency Development

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde met with Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, to discuss development works in parliamentary constituencies and the delimitation Bill. The high-level meeting, which Shinde described as a goodwill visit, was also attended by six Members of Parliament (MPs) from Maharashtra.
The primary focus of the discussion was the progress of various development projects within the specific constituencies represented by the six attending MPs. Shinde and the delegation of MPs sought to strengthen the focus on these local projects to ensure timely execution and support from the central government.
During the meeting, discussions also turned towards the upcoming delimitation Bill. Shinde expressed his backing for the proposed Bill during the interaction with the Union Home Minister, marking a significant political alignment on the issue.
Speaking to reporters in New Delhi after the meeting concluded, Shinde stated that the visit was highly positive. He noted that the discussions centered strictly on developmental works that would benefit the constituencies of the six MPs. "It was a goodwill visit, and six of our MPs were there," Shinde told reporters. "They held a meeting, and the discussion focused on development works in their constituencies."
Shinde also used the platform to highlight the welfare initiatives introduced by the Narendra Modi-led central government. He praised these schemes for their positive impact on the public and their role in driving grassroots development across the state.
In contrast, the Deputy Chief Minister criticized the previous United Progressive Alliance (UPA) administration, comparing its governance unfavorably with the current central government's welfare initiatives.
The meeting highlights the ongoing coordination between the Maharashtra state leadership and the Union government regarding regional development and legislative matters.
