Eleven injured in Jogeshwari West residential building fire on Haji Juhu Road

A fire broke out early Friday morning in a residential building located at Gomati Vaishali Chawl on Haji Juhu Road, Vaishali Nagar, in the Jogeshwari (West) area of Mumbai, leaving at least 11 people injured. According to local officials, the incident occurred on July 3, 2026, and was officially reported to the emergency services at 5:59 am.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation's Mumbai Fire Brigade responded to the emergency call at the ground-plus-six-storey residential building. Upon arrival, fire officials determined that the fire was confined to the ground floor of the structure.

Specifically, the blaze was restricted to the common electric meter cabin located on the ground floor of the building. The fire caused damage to the electric wiring, various electrical installations, and other materials that were kept inside the common meter cabin.

At least 11 people sustained injuries during the incident. The Mumbai Fire Brigade and local emergency teams worked at the Gomati Vaishali Chawl site to manage the situation and assist those affected by the fire.

As of Friday, the exact cause of the fire in the common electric meter cabin has not yet been officially confirmed by the authorities. The Mumbai Fire Brigade continues to assess the damage to the building's ground floor electrical systems.
