Factory Worker Dies After Transformer Radiator Falls on Him in Vasai's Kaman
In a tragic workplace accident in Vasai, a 54-year-old factory worker died after a transformer radiator came loose and collapsed on him while he was on duty at an industrial unit in Kaman, Naigaon East, on Friday afternoon.
The deceased worker has been identified as Ashok Kisan Wagh, aged 54, who was a local resident of the Kaman area.
The fatal incident occurred at around 1:00 PM when Wagh was carrying out his routine duties at the factory. According to reports, a transformer radiator suddenly detached from its position and fell directly on him, leaving him severely injured.
Following the accident, co-workers and staff at the unit immediately rushed Wagh to a nearby hospital for emergency medical treatment. However, attending doctors examined him upon arrival and officially declared him dead.
Personnel from the Naigaon Police Station were alerted to the incident and quickly reached the spot to inspect the factory premises and initiate an inquiry. Police officials have registered a case under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS). The ongoing investigation will look into the circumstances surrounding the worker's death, including the safety arrangements at the factory.
The incident follows another workplace fatality reported in the Mumbai metropolitan region. In that case, a 26-year-old worker died after allegedly suffering an electric shock while working at a construction site near Sambhaji Garden in Mulund East on August 13.
The deceased in the Mulund case was identified as Shahjahan Ibran Ali, a native of Katihar in Bihar. Police Sub-Inspector Aarti Mohanrao Bhandare, who was on night duty at Navghar Police Station, received information from Veer Savarkar Hospital in Mulund East, where Ali was brought and doctors declared him dead at around 9:30 PM.
Following an investigation into the fatal electrocution, the Navghar Police registered a case against a 42-year-old contractor and site supervisor, Mohammed Azhar Ivasuddin Ali, for allegedly causing the worker's death through negligence at the construction site.
