Fadnavis Claims Elements Infiltrated CJP Protest Near Parliament Street
In Mumbai, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday stated that certain elements had infiltrated a Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) protest march in Delhi to push their own agenda and create political unrest. The demonstration, which took place near Parliament Street on Monday, resulted in security forces resorting to a baton charge after protesters allegedly tried to breach barricades.
Speaking to reporters, Fadnavis emphasized that while staging peaceful protests with due permission is a democratic right, violence under the guise of agitation will be met with strict action. He warned against unlawful demonstrations and deliberately trying to create instability.
Thousands of protesters had joined the CJP's 'Sansad Chalo' march on Monday to protest against alleged irregularities in NEET and other examinations. Fadnavis clarified that he did not wish to blame all the participants, acknowledging that many students were protesting with genuine concerns and good intentions.
However, the Chief Minister alleged that some individuals had entered the demonstration solely to pursue their own interests, noting that some of them had nothing to do with the NEET exam and only wanted to create unrest. He claimed that several participants did not even know what NEET is or when the examination was held.
Fadnavis also defended the response of the security forces near Parliament Street, asserting that the police had exercised great restraint during the incident. He stated that no government wants to use force against its citizens, but argued that the police action was necessary to prevent unfortunate incidents and bring the situation under control.
Furthermore, the Chief Minister accused political parties and organisations of exploiting the student agitation for political gains. He claimed that parties rejected by the electorate and organisations with no connection to the examination issues were attempting to use the protest to create instability.
