Fadnavis Warns Mahayuti Leaders Over Infighting at Alliance Meeting
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has issued a stern warning to leaders of the Mahayuti alliance over ongoing infighting and differences at the local level, directing all constituent members to maintain coordination and refrain from publicly criticising partner parties.
The warning was issued during the first meeting of the Mahayuti Coordination Committee held on Monday evening. The meeting was attended by Chief Minister Fadnavis alongside Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Sunetra Pawar. The leaders reviewed several contentious matters within the alliance, including internal disputes, the pending allocation of state government corporations, and the distribution of development funds through District Planning Committees.
Maharashtra BJP president Chandrashekhar Bawankule shared details of the discussions, stating that strict instructions were delivered to ensure seamless coordination at the grassroots level. Members of the Legislative Assembly and Members of Parliament representing the alliance partners have been specifically instructed not to make public remarks or statements against leaders and parties belonging to other Mahayuti constituents.
To address ongoing friction, the committee outlined a structured dispute resolution mechanism for district-level fund allocations. Under the agreed process, any local disagreements over fund distribution will first be referred to the respective divisional commissioner for resolution. If the matter remains unresolved at that stage, the Mahayuti Coordination Committee will step in to mediate. Should differences persist, the final decision will be taken jointly by Chief Minister Fadnavis and the two Deputy Chief Ministers.
The leadership also discussed the allocation of state-run government corporations, which is expected to be finalised within the next 15 days following one or two additional meetings. A tentative formula currently under consideration proposes allocating 48 per cent of the corporations to the Bharatiya Janata Party, 29 per cent to the Shiv Sena, and 23 per cent to the Nationalist Congress Party. The specific assignment of individual corporations will be determined in upcoming sessions.
