Father, Son Booked for Assaulting Security Guard at Mumbai Airport

The Sahar police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) against a father and his son for allegedly assaulting a 24-year-old security guard at Terminal 2 of the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai late on Monday night.

The accused have been identified as Ravindra Jadhav and his son Kunal. Police have impounded their tourist bus and booked the duo under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Motor Vehicles (MV) Act for rash driving and criminal intimidation. Officials stated that they will also write to the concerned Regional Transport Office (RTO) to recommend the suspension of Ravindra's driving licence and the vehicle's permit.

The incident took place at around 8.30 pm when Ravindra was ferrying Haj pilgrims, who had travelled from various parts of Maharashtra to board a flight to Makkah, to the Mumbai airport.

According to the police complaint filed by the security guard, Sadik Darveshi, he received an alert from his colleague Jagannath Panigrahi, who was stationed in front of the multi-level car parking (MLCP) entry gate along the internal approach road of Terminal 2. Panigrahi alerted him about the driver of a white bus attempting to enter through the restricted gate.

When denied entry, Ravindra allegedly drove the vehicle in the wrong direction over the elevated bridge towards Level P10, endangering passengers and other motorists on the route.

When Darveshi intervened and stopped the bus, Ravindra contacted his son Kunal. Upon arriving, Kunal allegedly hurled abuses at the security guard, assaulted him, struck him with a belt, and tore off his identity card.
